Since I'll probably never write journal entries as I am a lazy, lazy, lazy person. I shall do something elaborate and just let it sit her on my page to gather dust. <3
Hi! I'm Ichitoko. Call me Ichi. Call me Toko. Call me Vyvy if you wanna use my real name. I've been pixeling for about five and a half years, but I tend to go on very long stretches where I don't pixel at all so my store of art is sparse. And if I do pixel at all, it's because I'm having fun over at Gaia. Which also explains my lack of progress because you'd think I'd be capable of doing backgrounds by now. But, as I've said before, I am a lazy person and have never gotten around to actually attempting them.
In fact, I suck at backgrounds. I can do small landscapes easily enough but sprites and dolls are where it's at for me. I make my own bases and I often go free hand when the whimsy hits. My freehand tends to be prettier than stuff I do on my bases, but I don't do those very often. I get lazy and unmotivated. And then I get art block. Which is never a good thing.
I like to play with patterns. Especially diamonds and squares. I'm figuring out the kinks of using circles and triangles, but they don't like to be tiled. Silly things. I also used to pixel with outlines, but have since abandoned them. Simply because stuff without outlines looks prettier. To me, anyway. I dunno about you guys. I also like bright vivid colors. Especially blues and oranges. But purple will always be my favorite color because it's my new black.
When I take requests, I usually choose based on the prettiness of OCs and I think they're more interesting to do than the Gaian avatar requests I tend to get. Those aren't very interesting. I hate one color outfits or characters. So boring. Two colors are okay so long as they look pretty together. I like to pixel short hair. Long hair is too tedious and I don't care much for it. Spikey hair is also a favorite. Pixeling any kind of headgear is also muchos fun.
Frontal shots are rare for me. I began drawing at 3/4 view and now I can't shake the habit. I've been trying, but it always looks funny so those attempts will stay on my hard drive.
Now I'm rambling and have nothing left to say. OH WELL.
EDIT. OH YEAH. I started learning how to pixel by observations. I am completely self-taught. Well. In a way. I would look at tutorials, but they never did anything for me so I gave up on them. I use MS Paint to do all my pixeling and PS7 to do transparency junk. Maybe some recoloring when I feel lazy. That said, MS Paint, no matter how basic a program it is, will always hold a special place in my heart. I'm incapable of using any other program anyway. OTL;;
